Course Description

The biggest issue most professionals have when working on an exit or succession plan is getting started. In this presentation, we will review 7 major pitfalls as we prepare an exit plan. This exit plan will be reduced to writing and include major goals, steps, and due dates. This is an important first step for those planning and advising others on preparing their exit.

Learning Objectives:

  • Plan a succession/exit plan for implementation

  • Evaluate what creates transferable market value

  • Recognize different ways to exit: market sale, merger, employee buy-out, etc.

  • Give examples of realistic exit plan timelines

Greg Caruso is an Attorney, Certified Public Accountant, and Certified Valuation Analyst who has been involved in the home-building, engineering, and general contracting fields throughout his 30-year career. After valuing hundreds of small businesses, brokering over 60, and being Editor in Chief of "Around the Valuation World," the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts monthly continuing education webinar, he has written, The Art of Business Valuation, Accurately Valuing a Small Business. In this book, he shares effective valuation methodologies and common-sense practices for valuing small businesses with revenues of less than $10 million.
